Continuing Your Braces Treatment at a New Clinic

Whether you have relocated to Bangalore, your previous clinic is no longer accessible, or you simply want a change — your treatment does not have to start from scratch. Here is exactly what happens when you bring your braces treatment to The Tooth Stop.

What to bring to your first visit

Gather whatever you can from your previous clinic. There is no minimum — anything you have helps us move faster.

  • Previous dental X-rays (OPGs, periapicals, cephalometrics)
  • Treatment charts or progress notes
  • Clinical photographs — before photos, progress photos
  • Any written treatment plan or case notes
  • The name of your previous orthodontist and approximate start date

What we do at your consultation

  1. Step 01

Review of your records and history

We begin by reviewing all documentation you have brought from your previous clinic — X-rays, treatment charts, photographs, and case notes. This gives us the clearest possible picture of what was planned, what has been done, and the goals that were originally set.

If you have no records available, that is entirely workable. We assess each patient from their current clinical state.

  2. Step 02

Clinical assessment of your current progress

A thorough hands-on examination evaluates your current alignment, bracket positioning, wire stage, and overall treatment progress. This gives us an accurate, independent baseline of where your treatment stands today — separate from any documentation.

We assess how far your teeth have moved from their original positions and what tooth movements remain to reach your final result.

  3. Step 03

    A current-stage OPG X-ray

We advise a fresh OPG (Orthopantomogram) — a full panoramic X-ray taken at your current stage of treatment. This is not a formality.

Orthodontic forces applied over time affect the underlying bone and tooth roots. The OPG allows us to assess bone resorption and root resorption — two critical indicators of how your supporting structures are responding to treatment. We do not make any adjustments until we have this picture.

Root resorption and bone resorption are routinely monitored during orthodontic treatment. Most cases show minimal change; the OPG simply confirms this before we proceed.

  4. Step 04

Devising and explaining your treatment plan

With your records, clinical examination findings, and OPG in hand, we devise a clear, specific approach to completing your treatment goals. This plan is explained to you in full — what we intend to do, in what sequence, and why — so you have complete clarity before anything begins.

We walk you through what lies ahead and answer any questions you have about the approach.

  5. Step 05

    Expected timeline and charges

Your timeline to completion and the treatment charges are decided based on your current treatment stage, the type of brackets and materials in place — conventional metal, ceramic, self-ligating, or a combination — and the complexity of the tooth movements that remain.

All charges are discussed with you transparently at the consultation. There are no surprises after you begin.
